A Warning About Recruiting Scams

Thank you for your interest in Alera Group.

we encourage you to explore job opportunities at our firm, but we also urge you to be cautious and wary of recruitment scams in which fraudsters pretend to represent legitimate companies.
Unsuspecting applicants may be invited to participate in bogus interviews, asked to fill out fabricated employment applications and, on occasion, have even been issued fake offer letters, all with the ultimate goal of trying to entice victims to pay money or divulge sensitive personal information.

Please carefully consider the red flags below as you progress your job search.

  • Unsolicited communications from an individual or websites with which you are unfamiliar, or whose domain name is inconsistent with the actual business.
  • Correspondence from free e-mail accounts like Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail. Our recruiters may initiate communication with candidates via LinkedIn or other legitimate job boards where you have posted a profile or expressed interest. However, Alera Group employees will not solicit candidates through an e-mail address that does not end in @aleragroup.com or the legitimate domain of one of our affiliates.
  • Communications that do not include information about a specific job opening (or the job description is vague) and/or extend a job offer without an interview.
  • Unsolicited communication where the recruiter claims to have seen your resume on a site with which you are not familiar.
  • Communications at the application phase requesting sensitive personal data or information, such as your social security number, date of birth, bank account information, passport information or any number appearing on identity documents. This information is never collected by Alera Group via email and never prior to you accepting an offer.
  • Utilization of personal video chat rooms (e.g. Google Hangouts) to conduct interviews. Alera Group will conduct video interviews using a company-sponsored meeting link with a legitimate Alera Group or affiliate company name in the URL such as https://aleragroup.zoom.us.
  • Requests from Alera Group for monetary payments at any point in the hiring process.
  • Any payments made by Alera Group will be from an official firm account bearing the Alera Group name. Do not trust checks from any other source.
  • Job opportunities that come from people you do not know and appear "too good to be true".
